The Calabash Research and Development Institute is preparing to commence the transfer of the simple low cost calabash board growing technology to farmers in the calabash growing countries. The technology transfer project is to be undertaken in phases with the first phase to commence in 2014. The technology transfer will focus initially on sensitizing and training farmers on the commercial technique of growing boards on the farm from the calabash gourd fruits. A major seeds regeneration programme will also be undertaken.

A major sensitization programme for the secondary producers will subsequently be undertaken globally. Potential development institutions, organizations and stakeholders will be welcome to partake and contribute to the development, propagation and organization of the new industry globally.
